Retail: common questions
What does Square for Retail add?
Square for Retail is the Retail mode of the Square Point of Sale app. It's built around inventory: item variations, barcode scanning and labels, purchase orders and vendors, returns and exchanges, and inventory reports. Some advanced inventory tools, such as purchase orders and label printing, need a paid Square plan.
Will my online store and my shop share inventory?
Yes. Square Websites (formerly Square Online) uses the same item library as your point of sale, so stock updates from in-person and online sales.
Can Square handle age-restricted items?
Square for Retail can mark items as age-restricted so checkout prompts staff to confirm the customer's age. Entering a date of birth or scanning a driver's license barcode needs a paid plan.
